GD 2.25

Born from the simplification in the construction of our top-of-the-line turntable, New Horizon GD 2.25 reaches very similar performances to those of the superior GD 3. The reduction in the number of plinths from 3 to 2 involves a simplification during the assembly allowing a reduction in the cost. The listener can benefits from a superior quality at highly competitive prices.

The bearing and tonearm stand on the upper plinth and are decoupled from the motor standing in the lower plinth.

The silence of the GD 2.25 is excellent, same level of the superior model GD 3. The very low background noise makes even the smallest details emerge from the grooves of the vinyl with the grace and sweetness that only a great system of analogue reproduction can provide.

The high level of the turntable is underlined by the adoption of a 25 mm thick platter and a fully configurable 9 inch aluminum arm.

Design originality and harmony of shapes: the new New Horizon turntable stands out among all.

True high quality is now accessible.

In depth

HD Double Plinth

The two plinths have the same thickness. This allows a more efficient decoupling of the motor (bigger source of self-generated vibrations) from the arm and the needle that is able to read the music only in the grooves of the vinyl with a very low background noise caused by the spurious vibrations. The constructive material is the same: compressed wood pulp and artificial resins, known as MDF HD. This material is extremely smooth and heavy and its isomorphic composition works much more efficiently than the solid wood.

Synchronous AC motor

The turntable pulsating heart is the compact 24VAC synchronous motor whose main feature is its extremely regular rotation, independent from the variations of the mains voltage, given that its speed depends on the mains frequency. The high torque and the rotation speed of 500 rpm actively contribute to the regularity and fluidity of the plate rotation.

Mechanical suspension

GD3 is a set of mechanical parts in action. The largest internal source of noise and vibrations is the motor that must be isolated as much as possible from all other parts of the turntable. The engine insulation in New Horizon turntables is made by an exclusive mechanical suspension system. Through precision steel springs, calibrated on the suspended weight of the motor and pulley, the oscillation transmission to the plinth is efficiently blocked.

Belt drive

The transmission of motion to the plate is obtained by a special belt in silicone rubber. The choice of this material ensures the best energy transfer and an excellent decoupling from the vibrations produced by the engine during operation.

Inverted bearing

One of the strong points in New Horizon turntables is the plate rotation pivot. The perfection of the movement is the result of a accurate project and several prototypes. Today the piece in production has a sturdy inverted bearing structure in three pieces of aluminum and steel that guarantee the maximum “silence” and a very low rotation friction.

Aluminum 9 inch. Arm

An excellent 9 “straight arm is installed on the GD3 upper plinth. This jewel of the mechanics is based on a double cardan with aluminum barrel, offering all the possible micro-adjustments to fully exploit the characteristics of any head. In addition to the anti-skating and reading weight, provided with three counterweights, it allows to operate both on the azimuth and the vertical alignment of the rod (VTA). The kit is completed by all the tools necessary for its adjustment.

Methacrylate platter

The appearance is extremely important: GD3 hosts a magnificent 25mm thick plate, in Crystal Methacrylate, first laser cut and then worked on precision lathe. This material with a high specific weight combines the excellent ability to disperse the vibrations kinetic energy, to the elegance of a perfect transparency.

Output on RCA terminals

New Horizon turntables are interfaced in the best way with all your electronics. An excellent insulating material plate accommodates the gold-plated RCA output terminals and the separate earth connector.

Dustcover

Arm, head, plate and all the other mechanical parts need to be protected when not in use. The high-quality, heat-bent cover in Crystal Methacrylate excellently performs this function, giving GD3 a solid protection and a prestigious appearance.
